Easy Guide: How to Get to Pillars of Creation in Enshrouded

If you’ve spent hours exploring Enshrouded’s vast, post-apocalyptic open world, you’ve likely heard whispers of the Pillars of Creation, a towering, lore-rich landmark that holds rare crafting materials and key story beats. Figuring out how to get to pillars of creation enshrouded isn’t as straightforward as following a map marker, especially if you haven’t unlocked the right quests or upgraded your gear to survive the high-level Shroud zones between you and the site. I’ve made the trip three times now, once getting wiped by a level 30 Wraith halfway through, so I’ve put together all the tricks you need to reach the area without wasting hours on failed runs. You won’t need any endgame gear to make the journey, but you will need to complete a few key pre-requisites first to unlock access to the region.

Pre-requisites You Need to Complete Before Heading to the Pillars of Creation

You can’t reach the Pillars of Creation until you progress far enough in the main story to unlock the Kindlewastes region, the arid, high-level zone in the eastern part of the map. If you haven’t reached this quest yet, you’ll hit invisible walls or unpassable Shroud layers that drain your life far faster than your Flame Altar upgrades can counter. I recommend finishing all main quests up to unlocking the level 4 Flame Altar first, as this gives you enough Shroud resistance to survive the 90-second timer you’ll have in the deadliest parts of the route.

You’ll also want to bring a few key items with you before you leave to avoid running into unnecessary roadblocks:

  • At least 3 Glider Durability Refills, since you’ll be gliding over multiple canyons to avoid ground enemies
  • 2 stacks of Healing Wraps (the green tier or higher) to counteract Shroud damage and minor enemy attacks
  • A grappling hook with at least 100 durability, to climb the final cliff face leading up to the pillars
  • 1 Fire Resistance Potion, to handle the occasional lava pool you’ll stumble across in the Kindlewastes

You don’t need legendary gear for this run, but I suggest wearing at least blue tier armor with a minimum level of 22, so you don’t get one-shot by any roaming bandits or Shroud creatures you run into. If you’re playing co-op, bring one friend with a ranged build to pick off flying enemies before they knock you off your glider, that saved my run last week.

How to Get to Pillars of Creation in Enshrouded: Full Route Walkthrough

Start your journey from the Ancient Spire - Kindlewastes, which you unlock as soon as you first enter the region. If you haven’t activated this fast travel point yet, you can reach it by heading east from the Revelwood region’s eastern border, following the paved road until you see the spire’s blue glow over the horizon. Activate it first, even if you’re mid-quest, so you don’t have to hike through the lower-level regions every time you want to make the trip.

Once you spawn at the spire, face directly south, and you’ll see a small canyon cutting through the red rock formations. Glide across the canyon, and stick to the left side of the path to avoid the level 28 bandit camp on the right. You’ll hit a small Shroud zone 5 minutes into the walk, which has a 60-second timer, so move quickly through it, and don’t stop to loot any chests here unless you have extra time left on your resistance bar.

Once you exit the Shroud zone, you’ll see a tall cliff face ahead of you, with small ledges sticking out every 10 feet. Use your grappling hook to climb up these ledges, and make sure you don’t miss a jump, since falling will send you right back to the bottom of the cliff, and you’ll have to re-traverse the Shroud zone again. When you reach the top of the cliff, you’ll see the Pillars of Creation directly in front of you, less than 2 minutes of walking away. The entire trip takes between 12 and 15 minutes if you don’t run into any unexpected enemies, which is way faster than taking the longer road route that goes around the bandit camp.

Common Hazards to Avoid Along the Route

Most players who fail to reach the Pillars of Creation make the same avoidable mistakes, so I’ve broken down the top hazards to watch for so you don’t waste time re-spawning. First, flying Shroud Wraiths spawn in the canyon right after you glide from the Ancient Spire, and they will target you mid-glide if you get too close to the canyon floor. Stay at least 30 feet above the ground when you glide, and you’ll fly right past them without them noticing.

Second, don’t try to cut through the bandit camp on the right side of the path to save time. The camp has 7 level 28 bandits, including two archers with fire arrows that can kill you in two hits. Even if you’re a high-level player, fighting them will add 10 minutes to your run, so it’s never worth it. Third, the Shroud zone halfway through the route has hidden lava pools just under the surface of the ash, so stick to the visible rocky path. If you step off the path, you’ll take fire damage every second, which stacks with Shroud damage and can kill you before you can heal. I made this mistake on my first run, and I lost half my inventory because I didn’t watch where I was stepping. Finally, don’t try to climb the final cliff without a grappling hook. The cliff is too steep to climb with just the default parkour moves, and you’ll fall dozens of times before you even get halfway up.

What to Do Once You Reach the Pillars of Creation

When you first arrive at the Pillars of Creation, you’ll first want to activate the small fast travel point at the base of the largest pillar, so you don’t have to make the walk again every time you want to visit. This fast travel point is hidden behind a small rock outcrop, so you might have to walk around the base of the pillar for a minute to find it. It’s worth the extra 60 seconds of searching, I promise, especially if you plan to come back to farm rare materials later.

Next, you can explore the multiple lore tablets scattered around the pillars, which explain more about the ancient civilization that built the structure and what caused the Shroud to spread across the world. The Pillars of Creation also have some of the rarest crafting materials in the game, including Ancient Core Fragments that you need to upgrade your Flame Altar to level 5, and Crystalline Shards that are used to craft endgame weapons and armor.

There’s also a secret boss fight at the top of the largest pillar, which drops a unique legendary staff that deals bonus Shroud damage. I don’t recommend fighting the boss on your first visit, though, since it’s level 32 and requires a full set of upgraded endgame gear to beat. If you’re just here for story content or crafting materials, you can grab what you need and fast travel back to your base without fighting any enemies once you’re at the pillars.

Reaching the Pillars of Creation is one of the most rewarding side trips you can take in mid-game Enshrouded, giving you access to rare materials and key story context you won’t find anywhere else in the world. Now that you know how to get to pillars of creation enshrouded, you can skip all the frustrating failed runs I made on my first few attempts, and reach the area in just 15 minutes or less. Don’t forget to activate the fast travel point as soon as you arrive, and stock up on glider refills before you head out, and you’ll have no problem making the trip safely.
